How to play
Solve eight hidden five-letter words at the same time. You get thirteen guesses, and every word you type is played on all eight boards at once.
The basics
- 1 Type any five-letter word and press Enter. The same guess goes into all eight boards.
- 2 Each board colours its tiles against its own hidden word, so one guess gives you eight different sets of clues.
- 3 When you solve a board it locks, and your next guesses only count for the boards still open.
- 4 Solve all eight within thirteen guesses to win. In Daily mode everyone gets the same eight words. In Unlimited, a new set is ready as soon as you finish.
Reading the colours
Eight boards, one keyboard
Every key is split into eight small cells, laid out like the boards: boards 1 to 4 along the top, 5 to 8 along the bottom. Each cell shows what that letter did on its board. Once a board is solved, its cell stops updating.
A round, step by step
Here is how the first four boards look after four guesses. Their hidden words are SLATE, POINT, FLOUR and CRANE.
Tips
- Open with three or four words full of different common letters, like CRANE, SLOTH, BUILD and GAMEY. Together they test most of the alphabet on every board.
- Don’t chase one board too early. Gather letters first, then solve the boards one by one, starting with the one you know most about.
- Count your remaining guesses against the boards still open. Thirteen guesses for eight words leaves only five spare.
- Scan the whole key before you type. A letter that is grey on one board can be green on another.
